Turns out coretemp 095 was giving false readings.

0.94 read a good 20 degrees lower :)
Don't you think it may be the other way around? i.e the old Coretemp is reading the temp too low? and the new Coretemp is right?

try intel Thermal analyisis tool (ill be amazed if i spelt that right) aswell as coretemp then you will know :)

74c sounds toasty tho but yet again its not exactly going to go BOOM from 74c soo... depends on how hot you want to let it get.

most overclockers agree 60c is a nice full load temp limit.

Coretemp 0.94 had a 15 degree offset which affects E4300's. Coretemp 0.95 was updated to match Intels TAT program.

So you should be using Coretemp 0.95 for the 'true' temperature, and ignore 0.94.

Maximum safe temperature of an E6xxx series is 85 degrees, not 100% sure about the E4300's, according to Coretemp 0.95 they have a 100degree Max T'Junct, but personally I'd ignore that and assume they have the same max temp as the other Core 2 Processors, which is 85 degrees.

The often quoted 65degrees max is actually based on the temperature as measured by a thermal probe mounted to the outside of the chips heatspreader, while the tjunct max is based on the temperature of the processors internal sensors.

75 is on the warm side, and doesnt give you much 'spare' for a hot summers day, but its still within the operational spec of the processor.
