iv got a am2 which seems to run very hot wats the max temp limit on am2's my current temps are after 30mins 45c idle and after 30mins with full load 59c

59 is quite hot, I would try and keep it in the low 50's (load) 45 idle is pretty hot too. Using stock HSF in a case with poor ventilation by any chance?

My 4400x2 doesn't go above 50, and that's overclocked from 2.2 to 2.7ghz (see sig)

case has crap ventilation im in the testing phase atm trying to get the temp down its a zalman hd135 with x2 3800+ with silverstone NT06 + Noctua 120mm fan

i cant really have water cooling in a HTPC case and i dont think the pc is ever going to run a full load as its only going to be used for media so i want it to be quiet as possible

was looking at this fan i got space for 2 of these on the back, has anyone used them are they loud as all the 60mm i come across are.

AMD says 50-70 is the limit on the AM2 chips...nice and vague

Mine runs anything from 30-55, but it's overclocked from 2.4 to 2.7 and has a Zalman 9500 on it which is pants at cooling it.

mine runs at 31 -35 on desktop and internet stuff gamin can push it up to 45 around that mark.

but on the standard cooler it was pushing 50 odd when it was running at 2.8 ghz from 2.6 which is default

Yep, depends entirely on what chip it is. If I remember correctly Coretemp will tell you the max temp for your specific CPU (it's predecessor A64Maxtemp certainly does).
