I have an XFX HD4890 Black edition running at 1000/1000 with a vortexx neo aftermarket cooler. I have undervolted the cooler to 10V to 'silence' it. the card idles at 40C core and 50C memory, vrm's are at 50C core and 70C memory.

What temperature limits should I stay under? I have heard all sorts of limits from 72C to 115C but do not know to what they apply. Gut feeling is 85C for core and/or memory with a bit more (95C?) for the vrm's. I have put extra heatsinks on the vrm's to give more cooling effort.

Thanks for any replies.

theres no memory temp sensors. (MemIO) is part of the gpu...

anyway i wouldn't go over 90c on the core and 80-85c on the vrm's if your overclicking it.

If I remember correctly I read 115c as the maximum temp before you break the 4890, although I don't recommend getting anyway near that if you can help it.
I had a pair of 4890s and they would get into the 80s on the core under load sometimes, average about 72. When stability testing with fur mark I've seen the core up into the high 90s before quitting the test. They definitely needed the fans cranked up to keep em cool though.
