I have been trying, without much luck, to find the max operating temps of the amd 5700.

I am unsure if I am being a little blind, if amd are hiding the information somewhere strange, or that my googlefu is failing me.

The only figure I have found is mid 70s.

Can anyone shed any light?

The general rule is dont go above 60 on an AMD Cpu and while this may seem low its simply because the temps are measures differently than that of an intel cpu.

My fx 8350 will idle at as low as 12 degrees on air which would be impossible since the room temp is much higher.

There must be some published documentation that gives explicit operating temperatures.

A "general rule" is as meaningless, as an "unspoken agreement".

A forum is where you can ask people's "opinions" based on their experience and knowledge.

For published documentation I would imagine an email to the manufacturer would be more appropriate.

A forum is a place where you can ask questions - some questions ask for opinion (what do you think of my pc build?),

Or they may request information. - I am having difficulty finding the information i need can anyone help?

My question requested information. Not opinion, but as you say opinion on a forum goes without saying.
