I've got my 6950 flashed to a 6970, with the stock cooler, but have noticed the temps peak at around 90C under full load, is this safe? or should I manually put the GPU fan speed up when stressing? It doesn't seem to get much above about 40% when on auto.

Another option I've been toying with, is to go water cooling, however, as I'm wanting an SSD soon, I'm not sure I'll be able to afford it all.

When my card gets above 80C I get major artifacts and at 90C it crashes.

Not that it ever does get that high with a custom fan profile in AB, stays under 70C

my flashed 6950s rarely get above 80 when benching. Maybe you can run msi afterburner to check your voltages. Or set ccc power control to plus 20?

Y ou need to use afterburner or sapphire trix to make a custom fan profile,
Its gonna be more noisy but if you make it right then you can idle around 38-42 and load should be maxxing around 70-76 degrees. The max speed I use is 40% Fan.

Practically exactly the same for me - mine idles as about 30-35 and (20% speed) and maxes around 70 at 40-45% fan
i found that the stock settings didnt really increase the fan speed at all in CCC so it got extremely hot. a lso got 100 degrees at one ponit because i forgot to turn on auto on afterburner. :| (20% fan while gaming is not good!)
