Hey guys,

I have a normal (home) Internet connection with 3 computers and 1 laptop.

The laptop and 2 computers are connected to the wireless router from Netgear:

NETGEAR RangeMax Next Wireless Router WNR834B

My computer is connected to the router with a wire (Since I game a lot a wire is just required...).

One computer who is connected to the wireless connection is pulling out all the download/upload speed once it starts downloading/uploading.

My question now is; Is there a program or an option inside my router, to give the certain pc an max download/upload speed from like 100 kb/s? So the other computers have a chance to download or upload as well without having slow Internet.

Dont know how to do that.

But when me and my dad download or vice a versa we use u torrent and set download bandwith to 50kbs and uploads to 10kbs so the internet is still usable for each other

there was a program called net limiter i believe? im not sure if it's free but you can search for alternatives if its not... you can install it on the computer and limit the speed computer receives..

The most elegant way to solve this would be to use QoS on the router. This proritises trafic. Thus you can set web and gaming traffic to be higher priority than all else. This means you can still utilise the full bandwidth for downloads and your web browsing isn't affected. Web browsing only downloads periodically thus when it needs bandwidth it is given it regardless of other traffic then once the page is loaded the bandwidth is returnedd to other sessions.
