maximise videos to secondary monitor

hi guys

i have my macbook hooked up to my hdtv but i can't seem to get vlc or quicktime to maximise to the tv :(

whenever i press full screen it goes fullscreen on my mac.

any ideas?

You just make sure its 100% over on the secondary monitor and hit maximise.

You sure you don't have it as a stretched monitor rather than a completely new one?

well in display options i unticked mirror - dunno what that makes the current layout though. it happens even when it is 100% on the 2nd monitor.
 
With VLC if you just click the green circle it'll expand it as big as it can which is about 0.01% smaller than the normal full screen.
 
As far as I can remember for VLC there is an option under the video menu to choose which video device to use.

For quicktime under the view menu is a 'present movie' option and this lets you choose which screen to display the movie on.
 
VLC you need to drag the control box to the other screen then full screen it, should be full screen on the screen showing the controls box then.
