Hi,
I wonder if any of you bright networking chaps could tell me if there's a max permissable network cable run from a belkin modem router ( standard belkin sort of thing - GS834 - typical white box)

I need to get from there to an office about 80 metres away (internal) - will a cable that length be ok or should one use some sort of booster mid way?

Many thnaks,

fanger

p.s: and before you ask - a wireless set up is out of the question.

100 metres is the max length for UTP/STP before you need to use a repeater to retime the signal. So you shouldn't have a problem at 80 metres :)

as above.. think we've done ~90 meters before, and it was external from one house to another. Lasted the year we lived there just fine :)
