i know a few on here have the same set up as me,( as you've got it in your siggy's).
a question for you........
whats the maximum overclock you've got with your setup?
intel i7 929 DO stepping cpu
gigabyte EX58-UD5 mobo.

It'll do at least 3.8GHz or even 4GHz easily enough, but it also depends a lot on your cooling and to some extent your ram. With good watercooling you should be able to get 4GHz+ with decent temps, but it does depend on the chip.

4.2 on my setup. Temps don't exceed 65-70 under load.
CPU is in a loop with the mosfets and chipset.

Like Nocky said its down to your temps and luck of the draw for the chip.

Do a search and you'll find loads of threads for this mobo and cpu combo
