Looking for someone who actually has upgraded their HDD in their PS3 as I've read so many different "Maximum HDD upgrade limitation" or "I've read that Sony blah blah.." type statements.

What's people's HDD size please? Looking for 0.5 Tb to 1Tb ideally so anybody who has managed this please stand up?

(Any make/model specs greatly appreciated too)

Think toshiba announced a 650GB 2.5 9.5mm SATA II drive just recently....

Heard they could get it to 1TB before too long. As for PS3, nah don't think there is an upper limit, just limit on the actual HDD its self.

Like all HDD. The bigger you can afford and use - the better.

There isnt a size limit per say its just currently (as far as im aware) 2.5 drives only go up to 500 gb.
Ther are the standard size 9.5mm drives (physical height of the drive) and there are bigger 12mm drives (I think it's 12mm) that do not fit.

Any 9.5mm hight drive will fit and I think the largest available today is 500GB

You could theoretically use a 3.5" drive with an extension cable but you need to mount that drive outside of the system, I think I saw a thread once where someone had that.
