I posted a thread in the CPU section as I thought maybe the cpu had fried but its looking likely the M/B is scuppered.
It powers on for a couple of seconds and doesnt even get to the BIOS POST screen. then powers off and goes round again andagianandagain andagain

Its not the PSU or the RAM as both test ok in another pc. clearing cmos by using the button and pulling the battery dont seem to have any effect either. I'll be trying a P4 cpu in it tonight but it looks like a RMA will be needed :(

i've had similar problems on the 790i, but it only did it occasionally. although admittedly i'm still trying to sort the problem (trying to avoid yet another RMA). it's either the PSU or the board, i'm getting a new PSU. But in your case it's likely to be the board. as i assume you've checked all the connectors etc. ;)

I've tried the psu with another pc (works fine) and another psu known to work fine with the Maximus and the boot looping problem is still there.
changed cpu
memory
video card

only thing left is to try it out of the case
I've got an RMA number for it. Not sure how long a replacement takes but not looking forward to waiting ages :(
