Hi guys,

Yesterday I built a new PC. And today I decided to update the bios to the newest bios version. So I did the bios flash using the asus windows utility.

ANd restarted as asked. When it restarted A message came up saying no Hard disk detected, so I went into the bios. Loaded default settings and tried again.

Still no hdd detected.

So I shut it down. and switched to my second bios. on the boared, booted up. and still had the same problem.
So I thought maybe it was a bad flash or something. So I went into the bios and using the EZ bios flash loaded the standerd bios from the support CD.

Restarted and again no HDD detected. So I checked all the sata cables and power leads, and everything was still plugged in.

I went intot the bios and checked the SATA configuration and both my HDD's where listed with their correct sizes etc.

But on bootup the MB just wont load the OS from the hdd.

Anybody got any ideas How a bios flash could do this, and even though I have reverted back to the original bios it is still happening?

have u checked boot options in bios and never use asus windows utility to update bios use usb pen stick and update in bios

yeah i checked that And then made it boot from the hdd. But now I have enougher problem. When the starting windows logo appears. The little firefly type things. stop rotating, and then the computer restarts. I tried running the repair windows utility. and the same thing happens. Nothing is overclocked at all in he bios. Its all realy starnge. The motherboared poster is displaying AA so all is fine with the hardware it seams.

But what could be causing the hassles with windows now?

nothing was changed apart from the bios was flashed.

yeah I just did a fresh install, and now everything is working fine. I guess that Asus flash utility messed something up in wondows. as the pc is runnign toataly fine after a reinstall.

Im going to be fed up of reinstalls soon, as My SSD's should arive next week sometime. and have to reinstall windows again.

Thank you for your help though. much appreciated.

Its probably hanging at windows cause of ahci settings.
You should have check it before doing a fresh install, anyway nice that you have fixed it.
