evening all,

I've been playing around at overclocking my new mobo, I've got it stable at 411x9=3699 easliy. when I try to up it some more, it gets unstable and I think it may be the ram. I have some gskill 6400hz, which By all accounts, clocks quite well. the ram is set to about 2.05v.
what is the best thing to try next? I have watercooling so temps are ok.
I might be dumb here but I can't find a divider to lower the ram les than 1:1

You can't run the RAM less than 1:1.

Try loosening the RAM timings and / or giving the northbridge more volts.

Do you have the ability to change the NB strap and / or tRD (aka Static Read Delay or Performance Level)?

thanks for the reply, not being able to run less would explain it! at the moment 4 main timings are set manually to 4-4-1-12 factory spec. as for the other settings, I'm sure they are tweakable. ill have a play tomorrow

anymore advice is welcome

Set your dram to 2.1 v ( or whatever the maximum the ram manufacturer says )

Keep the timings at 4-4-4-12

Set NB to 1.5/1.55 ( I use 1.55 for 4 gig of ram )

Whats your CPU voltage ?

TBH its relatively easy to get to around 3.6/3.7 on lowish voltages.

Its more likely that your CPU needs more volts.

just a heads up the maximus over volts the ram , so check what it is giving it if you set it in bios to the max for ram.

morning,

thanks for the replies. I'm off out to mcdonalds now for a nice healthy breakfast. ill tinker later. my cpu voltage is at 1.47. My max memory is 2.1 so i cant go much higher this takes into account the over volt. i think i can increase the northbridge volts though

Plenty of headroom on the CPU volts - Depending on temps.

1.5 - 1.55 may give it the stability it needs.
