Does your board have the red glow between the Audio section and the rest of the board please?

By glow do you mean the small republic of gamers logo just below the cpu socket? If so yes on mine this is lit up, though it's obscured by my cpu cooler a fair bit.

No, the trace between the sound card part and the rest of the board.

The trace on the Gene / Hero glows red.

Just had a close look, couldnt see any red glow in that area.

There should be a slightly red glow as there are leds. the trouble is its in a realy stupid place, thae armor hidses it also any pcie cards you have plugged into the slots will obscure it. or does the supreme fx light up, that might light up by the look of it?

The supreme fx audio chip on the board is terrible. So dont worry about that, apparently the audio is supposed to be a selling point of this board. Obviously the motherboard and sound card designers at asus never see each other. A cheap dg soundcard is way better than the onboard garbage on this board. My xonar dx will be going back in again asap.

What didn't you like about the onboard audio btw.

I had heard it wasn't to bad and acutaly just as good as a xonar dx, just no way as good as the higher priced separate sound cards.

Mine has a slight glow but thats from the other leds on the board.

I actually found the audio on it to be a upgrade from my d2x
