Maxwell power management mode?

Hi there, playing a bit gta5 just now and despite having selected "prefer max performance" in control panel, my gpu boost clock is fluctuating quite a bit. This has only been the case today since I installed latest nvidia drivers and also i think gta patched itself when i launched steam as I got first time setup when I launched game.

Is power management mode bugged in latest drivers? Can anyone with gta 5 and a 980ti confirm if gpu displays similar behaviour in this game, despite selecting prefer max performance?

*as yet it doesn't appear to be affecting performance in game, but I do like gpu to be running consistent clockspeeds in game to prevent micro variations in framerates and frametimes.

Yeah pc has been restarted many times since. Like I say, the option in Global should be overwritten by the application specific settings. This appears not to be the case. Have tested with Wolfenstein TNO and Dishonored now and the same problem - clocks are hitting ~1140mhz and not boosting to 1429mhz (which is my overclock) unless a significant load is being put on card.

As I say, I understand this is how gpu boost is meant to operate - it has just never been a problem selecting max performance mode in past and it hitting max boost clocks in game at all times.

*I have since discovered there is a new power mode selectable called optimal. However, as I say, selecting any of the modes doesn't actually appear to make a difference.
