maxwell Titan 34% faster

Neither does Titan Black and that came 4 months later than 290X.

See what I did there. I shot down your logic quicker than it takes you turn on your PC.

That's normally a good sign you should stop :p

Remember you unsubscribed from replying so you will excuse me if I leave this here.:D

All one can do now is belch and move on.

Took me too long to find that classic wireplay smilie. :D

Sorry to say, but just saw above about AMD not releasing anything to challenge Nvidia, but if the 'RELEASED LAST YEAR' 290x is trading blows with the 'RELEASED THIS YEAR' 980 at 4k, what is the need for AMD to release anything?
Just let Nvidia play all the cards, come out and blow them out the water... Im not a AMD fanboy (have AMD CPU and GPU but that was best £ for performance at the time) But can honestly say that i wont be swapping my single 290 on my LG 29 inch 21:9 anytime soon... Especially with the advantages not being too amazing... maybe 290 -> 390, which is hopefully a bigger gap...
I want to see this Maxwell Titan, and then I think AMD will drop their new cards right onto Nvidias little heads for a lot less, and destroy them, hopefully...
In the meantime, they can hopefully reclaim some sort of ground in the CPU department also as Intel are running away high end at the minute which is sad to see.
I wonder what AMD are doing right now...
PROBABLY making the 'My name is Jeff' vines OR the RKO videos... You just don't know, only time will tell...

I sound very fanboy, but I tried not too... Oh well, it happens

Maybe they don't need a card to compete at 4k but what about cards to trade blows with the 980 at 1080/1440p where the majority of users is at?

The current 9x0 cards are really just the mid-high end stuff masquerading as the top end. Nvidia have no reason to drop the full fat cards right now, not while they can make mad £££ from selling cheap to produce cards at top whack prices. Which is what IMO was the whole reason for the 970/980 cards in the first place, not as a new ZOMG look at the POWA! card, but something to make money hats out of.

AMD need to get something out of the door quickly, as the 290 and 290x cards must cost a heck of a lot more to manufacture than Nvidia's new cards. A much more complex PCB, larger chip and more memory modules, yet they have to sell it for less. Anyone looking at AMD's recent financial results will know this is the last thing they need.

As a 780 owner maxwell is very boring and stupid expensive if I wanted more performance.

A case could be made for the low power draw but I there is nothing wrong with the heat, noise and power draw of my current card. I buy a GPU such that I can ogle stunning games not power bills.

That's a very simple way of looking at it. It's not just about power bills. What do you think it's like having three or four Titans in a loop in Summer? A full fat GK110 can consume up to 400w on a reference board each.

That energy isn't just going into your bills it's dispersing into your room. 980s consume even once overclocked little more than 200w. So they might still not be 'worth' it, but those same people probably aren't power users. H100 cooler and a single 290p type deal.

It does all this whilst being on the same process, and faster than Kepler, but it's not high end just because Dave and Dell Boy know there's something else planned. If you took that outlook every time a company that uses fabrications said anything what so ever, you'd spend your whole life waiting...like some chump :D

The most laughable part of if all though is guaranteed, a large majority of these same people won't be willing to pay the prices for what Nvidia have shelved. So when push comes to shove I'm not sure who's the bigger idiot, people who've bought GM204, or those so desperately clinging on to the unknown. I'll get what ever comes just because I don't mind, it's something I do because I enjoy it. I don't try to tell Nvidia what their products are because I think I know better than they do, regardless of what Rajif from India leaked from a shipping manifest.

Not convinced about the 980. The 780ti still matches and beats it in some tests. Says it all for me.

It's not a worthy upgrade from a 780Ti, unless you're desperate for the extra VRAM in SLI. I've yet to see any test where a 780Ti is quicker though.

If maintain a constant frame rate was ever important, the 980 does a far better job in this pin-up game.
