May 2012=Expensive month for PC Games

Interested in Max Payne 3 but doubt it will be in the same league as the first two, and with rockstars track record of sloppy pc porting I'm not holding out a great deal of hope for it.

The genres booming now more than it has in the past 10 years or so.

How so? Back in the day things like Killer Instinct, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, King of Fighters were almost single handedly selling consoles, had massive coverage in games media etc... Now-... is there something I dont know? :)

MMORPGs are life suckers. A good reason I stay away from them :D Although D3 is rather tempting.

At the moment, i'm looking forward to max payne in May. For the year though, i'm most excited for Bioshock Infinite!

Publishers are rushing to get the following finished before the annual summer games drought:

Street Fighter x Tekken
(First ever Tekken game on PC. Must buy for fighter fans).
Awesome.

Resident Evil ORC
(Left 4 Dead style SP & Co-Op squad FPS set in & around some of the iconic locations from Resident Evil2 + 3 but now obviously in a 3 D map).
Meh... Still have to play the earlier RE's and L4D is boring after a while, L4D2 barely played it because I played 1 to death with mates.
Diablo 3
(probably the highest selling PC game in 2012 by far. Will it sell lots of extra PC hardware as well I wonder!)
Unsure about this one, never played Diablo before and it's not really my fav genre ( I'm not fond of RPG's). Then again I said the same about Fallout 3, FO Vegas and Skyrim yet loved em.

Max Payne 3
(DX11 support confirmed using the RAGE engine that powered GTA-IV lets hope they optimised it a little this time).
Never played the original but definitely interested, old ones looked fun and it's R*...

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Solder
(looks interesting could be hit or miss though).

Dirt Showdown
(not a game I would personally buy or play as Codemasters are up to their usual recycle everything but the kitchen sink tactics here!).

Meh, most racers and shooters these days are samey...
More of the same is boring imho especially in racing games or FPS games, we need new experiences, new atmospheres, etc...

I miss decent strategy and simulation games tbh.
Most are way to generic, don't have much eye for detail, or are simply a ***** to play. Total war series has become to different/complicated since Empire, Rome was best imho, followed by medieval 2. Expansions were rubbish and Empire and Shogun have become odd to play.
Civ5 is a step forward and back again, and then a step to the side, while a great game I don't consider it better than Civ4, both are more or less equal and a different game.
Company of heroes, Starcraft 2, Rome:TW and Supreme commander were the last ''great'' strategy games imho.

And in the simulation/building/tycoon genre, we need games like RCT1/2, Openttd, Railroad Tycoon series, Theme Hospital, Sim City 4, Anno1404, Pharaoh, Caesar 3.

Any sequels after these ( well excluding openttd which is itself a sequel, but still, it's a 256 color game...) or game that tried to look like them failed completely/were asbsolutely ****. I believe partly that 3d is the culprit, but then again, it can be done right, like in Anno 1404 or Railroad Tycoon3. I REALLY hope Sim city 5 won't be rubbish.

no we dont, you need. the games you mentioned are boring as hell.

The main one I am interested in is Max Payne 3, though I will keep one eye out for Resident Evil and Diablo 3, to see how they shape up. I would also like to think that Ghost Recon Future Soldier will manage to hold my interest; it's unlikely though, I've tried quite a few of those in the past but unfortunately I nearly always find the positives outweighed by the negatives.
