Am i to expect programs not working with Vista, games, virus software, Office disks?

Or is Vista completely backwards compatible.

I realise this question has probably been asked before, but my searches have only led me to find very specific compatibility issues.

Im currently using Vista 64 and have had no software problems what so ever. Just to give you a bit of an idea here is some of the sotware I regually use. Office 2007, Adobe After Effects , Adobe Photoshop, adobe premier pro, nero, winrar, vlc, tomtom software, quicktime firefox, kasperski(previously used AVG with no problems too), the list goes on. The only problem I have had is with Hauppage TV cards. There driver support is rubbish. Oh yeah and the only game i really play is call of duty 4, also with no problems.

Dont listen to the naysayers, Vista is more than capable these days, im very happy I took the plunge!

You'll be hard pushed to find something that doesnt work now.

Jumped ship to Vista this year after ordering a new mobo and a few other bits and bobs from OcUK.

I was a bit worried about doing so but to be honest?.....I'm glad I did.

AVG and VLC work fine with Vista. As for your other progs listed, not used 'em so cannot comment.

Not had a game that wont play as it should yet, so all good with that situation as far as I am concerned.

I'm pretty sure that all those apps will work fine. It's a shame that there are so many people bashing Vista and causing people to be wary about upgrading, when it's actually a pretty solid OS now!

Jumped to Vista x64 earlier this month, not looking back. I miss XP because I've used it for 5 years but me and Vista are getting nicely acquainted here.

I'll only have 1GB of RAM (667Mhz) and a Core2Duo 7100.
My concern is that XP would run like lightening, but Vista may be a bit slow.
