World has gone crazy....

Around 20-30k people walking down in Berlin under Soviet Hymn....

I am not sure about figure of 20-30k, however around 2:50 mark the operator shows the street and it is completely clogged as far as eyes can see.

Can someone explain what this is about please?? :)

What the hell is going on?

To be honest, I dont know myself :p But nonetheless, they seem to be pro Soviet/Russian and there is a lot of them.... Its happening in Berlin too.

I thought this is rather strange since we have Ukranians who are prepared to lynch Russians and here we have a massive pro Russian gathering in Berlin.

May 1st used to be very special day in the Soviet union. Here's some photos of what it was like: http://www.realussr.com/ussr/1931-1940/may-1st-soviet-labour-day/

"May Day has been an important official holiday in countries such as the People's Republic of China, North Korea, Cuba and the former Soviet Union. May Day celebrations typically feature elaborate popular and military parades in these countries".
May 1 was chosen as the date for International Workers' Day by the Socialists and Communists. It was mandatory for everyone to attend and the main intention of the celebration was to show the faith to the comunism and demonstrate patriotism.

In ex Soviet countries after the independence the various countries decided not to celebrate it anymore as it was assosiated with soviets and occupation.

However In Lithuania, for example, a few years ago the government decided they don't have enough bank holidays and brought May 1st back again. The more enlightened citizens are a bit concerned though that it's bringing back the traditions from the soviet union...
