May i sum up CES 2017?

The Samsung TellyFridge is the biggest single item of attention seeking since the invention of the flashing Santa garden sleigh. It has no functionality other than "look at me! I've got the moneyz".

take out milk from fridge to use for 5 mins, fridge order 4 more bottles of milk automatically... get hacked, continuous shopping deliveries, i can see the fun already.

just what i wanted!

exactly, IOT is all nice and dandy except for one tiny little detail, there is no freaking security!

But hey, who needs that when we can showcase something amazingly cool and totally useful!

To correct you, a HDMI standard (2.1) which allows 8K 60hz 4K 120hz, Dynamic HDR, Game Mode Variable Refresh Rate and Object-Based Audio (eARC)

+1

That's big news.

Also new 4k monitors with quantum dots allowing HDR with 120Hz+ refresh rates are announced, that's very good.

AMD also showing nice things, at the very least it would force NVIDIA to move quicker with Volta.

Much better CES than last year.

I have loads of 4k content across Sky Q, Netflix and Amazon. Stop moaning.

No you don't.

Having a few stills of the grand canyon doesn't count as 4k content and don't give me House of Cards and the other one ... You don't spend your life watching one thing just as you don't spend your life playing Doom only ...

Having episode one of something with 2 seasons doesn't count as 4k content either - this is Prime btw.

Prime has a few movies in 4k ... not many but they cost something in the region of £20 each. That doesn't count as 4k content in my eyes.

I had a 4k TV since December 2014, I have Prime, Netflix and Sky as well. The only thing you can get in 4k reliably are football games on both BT Sports and Sky Sports and they are not cheap. That's it.

Netflix - The Get Down, Bloodline, House of Cards, Daredevil, Jessic Jones, Luke's Cage, Better Call Saul, Marco Polo, Sense8, 3%, Orange is the new black, Stranger Things, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace and Frankie, Love, Travelers, Fuller House, Breaking Bad, Master of None, Power, The OA, Black Mirror, Flaked, The Crown, Narcos, Wer Hot American Summer TV series, Chealsea Does, Gilmore Girls.

Amazon - Goliath, The Grand Tour, Red Oaks, Good Girls Revolt, Crisis innSix stages, The gf experience, The Last Tycoon, Mad Dogs, Mozart in the jungle, Alpha House, Hand of God, sneaky Pete (full season starting next week), Transprent, The man in the high castle, Bosch, Gordimer Gibbons life on Normal Street.

Yes not much content there and that isn't even including movies... also a lot including The Grand Tour are also in 4k HDR.

You say you had a 4k TV? Have you checked at all lately *** no need to be so rude *** as all I watch here in those streaming apps is 4k content. An hour of content here or there? There are hundreds of hours worth. Thousands even... Just the first season of The Crown is over 10 hours worth.

I never said I had, I said I have. Most of these things you listed have been available for a while and have been watched to death already. Gilmore Girls, Chelsea is not something I'd consider watching.

You might be impressed by seeing a list of 10 things but when you had 2 years of 4k TV that really isn't that much now, is it?

Also if you did a bit of research you would even realise that whatever Amazon and Netflix sell you as 4K it really isn't 4K quality. For example I received a 4k content pack from Samsung when I bought my TV. It was only about 3 movies but the difference in quality is huge and put them side by side with any streaming service, the difference is actually visible. That said, what is streamed in 4k does look better than 1080p HD.

here is some stuff for you :

Is the bitrate for Netflix and Amazon actually 4K worthy though?

I would say that it is, but we really need a lot more content to make it worth it, especially when you hear talks about 8k TVs. Who is going to care when 4k stuff is moving so slow?

I can see the 8k commercials ... buy the TV, watch the fire background and the Grand Canyon stuff cause that's all that's available!

CES 2019 "LOOK 16K TVS!, buy now at $15000 a pop or miss out on nothing!".

yeah the price is something to consider as well.

To be honest I love my TV and I don't regret spending £1600 on it. It's Samsung, 55 inch, 4K, 3D and the quality is really good even in non 4k stuff. That being said, it was definitely not cheap and had to think twice if I really wanted it that much :)

At the rate tech is going 10 years might be a bit too much to keep a TV. You'd probably lose out on a lot of fancy stuff. 4-5 years is what I am aiming for.

No I don't think it is. Both are less than 1080p bluray and only a tenth of 4K bluray.

That's a lot of data missing. They might technically be 4K size but what's the point if the bitrate is so low they aren't any better than 1080p?

Where do you get your numbers from? They feel a bit low compared to my experience.

You implied Netflix had like two shows in 4k. Not only were you wrong, but you seem to have backtracked and then 360 turned to "I don't want to watch those shows". Just because you don't want to watch them doesn't make them any less 4k. Plus I listed more than 10 shows. You need to count again...

Not only have I listed a massive amount of UHD content, but many are also HDR and look spectacular...

dude, seriously, read what I said a bit slower, also look at the screenshots and stop exaggerating. Your "Massive" is well ... massively exaggerated :)

However you look at it, that's not enough 4k content considering how long 4k has been out which is more than 2 years now.

This isn't a war between you and me, it's just reality of where we are with the 4k content. Not sure why you make everything so personal ( and rude as well ... )

How is it exaggerated? The shows listed are there now to watch? So how on earth is it exaggerated? Are you saying the amount I listed is still too little or you don't believe they are there to watch? You also say they don't look good compared to bluray 4k? No ****. That wasn't the argument. Yet it is still 4k content and as I have mentioned it looks awesome on my HDR TV with HDR content...

Fully star swearies - Armageus
