Hello! My brother needs a PC for Maya 2010, his current PC takes hours to render. Could you possibly help? Ive built PC's but havent done so for quite a while so rather out of it hardware wise. I can either build of go for an off the shelf system..

CPU - Quad core or 6 core? Will Maya 2010 use 6 core? Also any pointers as to which Intel CPU to get, threes just so many options! Would an Overclocked option be a decent value for money option?

MEMORY - Im guessing DDR3 would be optimal, Im going for 8Gb as minimum or wiuld 6Gb high quality RAM be enough, anything more wont drastically alter render times?

MOTHERBOARD - Totally at a loss! Does it really matter? (As long as DDR3/has enough slots)

GRAPHICS - I believe the graphics card doesnt really affect rendering? How low can I go on this to improve overall value that wont impact the speed of the system/rendering?

He's looking at a budget of £800, however any savings would be so much better, prob £600 (inc Windows 7 64 license etc) would be a better target (but a fast render is really important). Any help at all would be great, if anyone has any experience with Maya, thanks v much guys.:)

Cheers RJC Do you think the i5 is quick enough? Also I heard Nvidia works better with Maya - what do you think?

Ive just been playing about and the below is waaay too expensive I know, I can but dream :p
Thinking about SSD, is it really necessary? Thought it could speed up work quite considerably, or is it just a real luxury?
