I have had a touch of the dark side and i want more, is ebay ok for mac purchase or should i stay clear ? for your first purchase were would you recommend it's all kinda of new to me.

All so what is the midway kinda of system recommended.

cheers jay.

Honestly if you have never owned mac, and only had a touch, would go second hand mac mini, you can see if you like osx for a few months, then if it agrees with you sell it on at little loss and go for a newer spec one, but really the mac experience for me lies with the iMacs...i suppose the smaller screen is the midway point, but the lower spec 27" version offers the best value for money in the range...that's just my opinion, but the screen alone is worth it..also..resale...down a few years or even beyond i can see the 27" version really holding their value well.

As always, eBay is fine as long as you check the feedback and track record of the seller.

I'd get some form of MacBook Pro every time, personally. Macs have always had good support for "clamshell" mode where you close the lid and hook up an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, so they're both a desktop and a laptop.
