i have also found out that this adapter isnt supported by 64 so im looking to get a new one.
i was thinking about the n300

would i need the specific n300 router or could i use it with the one i have albeit with not as good performance?
sadly when the builders made my house they forgot to put cables in so bt is all i can have. any help appreciated.

You'd need the N router to get any benefit from paying a premium for an N adapter, but it'll work fine with a G router. That said there's no way I'd touch Belkin kit, but that's up to you.

Erm, what?

jeez thats annoying, i swear i have been googling for like 2 days, belkin website and what not.
i see, the website only states 32 but it downloads both versions.
ty so much :)

i dunno, the house was built about 11 yrs ago and we have no cables in the area for cable tv or virgin etc.

Age of property has nothing to do with it.

the router came with our net package, what would you recommend as i dont think its that great anyways tbh

Either Linksys by Cisco WAG54G2-UK 54Mbps Wireless-G ADSL2 + Router/Modem

Or

Linksys by Cisco WAG160N-UK 300Mbps Wireless N ADSL2+ Modem/Router

Second uses wireless N so you will see faster network transfer speeds

I would stay away from xyxel, netgear and belkin

Linksys by Cisco or Netgear are the only routers I'd get. Belkin have loads of issues, especially frequent disconnections with their routers.

hey, thanks for the info. i havent upgraded as yet however i ran a windows 7 compatibilty test and my adapter isnt supported.
is it possible to just buy a new adapter or will i need a new router also?
pci wireless card - is that also an option?

Don't get Netgear, I had one & the wireless went out a day later. Took it back to the store & they said we get Netgears back all the time cause of the same issue. Linksys is prob. the best choice.

my usb adapter is a belkin f5d7051

only an adsl2 line as cable isnt supported in my area sadly.

Allegedly the Vista 64 bit driver will do the job on the f5d7051. Worth a stab before shelling out.
No need for a new router.

Not sure if I have misinterpreted your reponse, but what I was suggesting was that allegedly the vista driver will work under Windows 7.
