Maybe a stupid question here....

Hi guys,
I got myself a new sony 46" LCD Screen for my home cinema setup. I have it all hooked up especially to my xbox, which is hooked up via a vga cable. I have just bought the hd dvd drive for the xbox but i have, what i think is a silly question.

How do i change the display setting to 1080i? I can see a difference between normal dvd and HD DVD but i cant tell what settings im using? When i go into the display settings on the dashboard it only allows you to select Screen Resolution, which is currently set to 1280x768.

Really appreciate your help on this one guys.

You can't using VGA. You'd need to use component.

Try them both for yourself, some people prefer VGA some Component.

Since it's an Xbox I'd use component.

I use VGA simply because I need my component connection free. When I switched I noticed a big difference in the colours. VGA is less vibrant, but with some tweaking it looks fine now.

Some find VGA is clearer, however I haven't noticed the difference. I would personally use Component over VGA if I didn't need the component connection for something else.

Just leave it at 1280 x 768 or 1280 x 720 (720P) via VGA.

well LCD TV's are usually 1366x768.
Some people have set the xbox to that, so you can try that with the VGA.
