Maybe a stupid question

I've taken my desk from my office and its a monster as such I need to extend my wired USB mouse and keyboard.

Now if buy a USB hub to use as the extension is this going to cause issues?

I've got it in my head that two USB devices run through a single cable would stop them working simultaneously.

A usb hub would work fine. There is no problem using multiple devices on one port. The only real limitation with usb is power (most motherboards only provide up to 500mA per port), which is why most USB hubs provide their own power.
