Maybe an EV then.... or?

My brother has just bought an Mercedes Benz EQC and is coming over this weekend, he said I can try it so I can see how it all works.

Looking forward to it as I've never driven an electric car before.

The EQC is quite an old car now - launched in 2019 with little updates since.

Efficiency, range and charging speed is quite poor compared to cars launched in the last 3 years.

If you tall you will get on with the Cupra Born. V2 are coming into that budget and rwd. i3 is just a stupid car dynamically (feels top heavy) and with the seat belts that attach to the rear doors.

The i3 is more of a curio, I fancy getting one as a second city car because they are interesting if you like that kind of thing and it was borrowing one that got me in to EVs..

But the MEB platform cars have now dropped in price making the i3 a poor choice at the £10k+ mark since they drive better, are much more refined and work as an actual car far better.. the Born is indeed a nicer place to sit than the other MEB offering (ID.3), but you can pick up the early ID.3's from just over £10k now which is incredible.

Not sure if I am keen on what is basically a posh Seat.... I got to realise my budget also.. afterall I need to fork out for a charger and installation aswell

Its only to see how it drives... I dont want one.... BMW is about the only premier car I would buy anyway..... dont like Audi or Merc.....

The 2020-2021 Mini -E with level 2 pack and under 30k miles for £10.5-12k is a very good car for the money. It's just an i3 battery and power train underneath.

Why do you need to wait until next year?

missing 2 doors though ?

i-word insurance hasn't come up - for a private purchase that ruled tesla/polestar/korean out for me, £500+/pa no thanks.
vs VW, or stellantis, I'd be considering at id3 max w/dcc over more expensive cupra,

So I can save up more money... I need double what I have now...

Yeh I've just done an insurance quote on the i3, eff me I haven't paid over £1000 since I was 18.... that rules that out... even the Polestar £500... Honda E and Mini was ok

i3 (BMW) or Id.3 (VW)?

Our id.3 was very cheap insurance, i3’s are surprisingly more…

Wow I had a drive in my brothers EQC.... very cool and so quiet.. even the indicators are quiet... love the one foot driving and regenative braking.... I'm sold... gonna get my plates off this month the get out test driving..... Honda, Mini and Polestar

Hondas a hard sell even if you love the design. The focus handy for DIY.

But if you like driving the mini has everything else beat.

After that it's what you want balance, comfort, thrills, utility, space etc. That will come down to sitting in the car. I know you said no VWs but a high spec late eGolf is decent drive also, but short range and slow charging but cheap.

If I didn't the practicality I'd be buying the mini.

Not a fan of one pedal driving personally, but I do like the option to change the regen braking on the EQC using the steering wheel paddles.

Makes going downhill so much easier!

To be honest I had a mini before and it was only ever a 3 seater with the front seat hitting the rear seat.... I did like those mini seats very comfy and it drove like a go kart.... noticed the mini did some different models also....

71-plate Level 2, all black with 31k on it for £10.7k

Cheapest one of your current car I can find, in auto, same age, don't know your mileage this one has nearly 60k - £10.4k

So almost a straight swap. :)
