maybe dumb question

intresting.. quite hard to decide more fps in most games with 2 770's does it mater what model i was going to sli 2 asus 770 or get a 780ti gigabyte

780ti

Simple reason being that there is nothing more infuriating than an eagerly awaited title to be released to find it doesn't support SLI!

why do people buy a 780ti when it could be cheaper to get more fps with 2x770's then?

Yeah that's the most annoying thing about having SLI which is why I'll be going for a single card solution from now on. SLI for 4k seems a necessity right now but for 1080p gaming a 780ti will be more than ok.

I game at 1400p and went from 670 SLI to 780 SLI. But I quickly became seriously annoyed as I had forked out loads on a system that ran only a handful of games acceptably.

Example of my issues

Assasins Creed Black Flag - Major stuttering
NFS Rvals - No SLI support (had to make Nvidi Inspector profile)
Wargame - No SLI support (had to make Nvidi Inspector profile)
Watchdogs - Ran better with 2nd card disabled
Wolfenstein - No SLI support
Titanfall - No SLI support
COH2 - No SLI support

That's not to say that its totally useless, Bioshock and BF4 are ace in SLI. But when you look at how much you fork out for a second card that in my case is rarely utilized, it just was not worth it. So the 780's went back and I have a 780ti which copes ok at 1400p.

appreciate, what model card have you got ? and do you use 2 monitors for 1 780ti

Mate I run 2 680s in SLI which are pretty much 770s and I'd swap them for a 780ti if I could. I run one 1440p monitor and 1 1080p monitor. Like the guy above says, SLI is good when it works but you'll be wishing you had 1 more powerful card for when it doesn't.

I'm surprised to read this. I just recently upgraded my system from single to SLI GTX670, and funnily enough I've been playing Bioshock to test it out and it seems to be a great boost.

Why do people spend so much on SLI systems when it is so poorly supported? Also, when you say Wolfenstein is not supported, what happens when you play in SLI? I'm at work for a few days yet, so can't fire it up and see for myself.

My SLI setup is a temporary one while I wait for next gen cards, but based on this I think I'll go back to a single card set up when upgrade time comes round!

780ti

It is not quite as fast as 770 sli but all round the 780ti is the better option

More VRAM
SLI support not needed to work
Single PCI-E slot
Will use Max PCI-E bandwidth
Less demanding on the CPU in Games like BF4 or Crysis 3 (i7s are needed for best results with SLI).

When I initially went with SLI like you and put another 670 in, the results on games like Bioshock and BF4 are amazing, nearly 100% scaling (don't quote me). It works great in those games and is totally worth it.

Wolfenstein though doesn't even utilize the second card one bit so it is totally useless.

I cannot understand why it cannot be some kind of unified technology that just works in all games. So if you SLI you get 100% boost in all games. I know they have problems with no many developers and game engines etc, it is just so infuriating.

Bottom line, if you want a simple, plug and play, no tinkering, always works, get a single card.
If you don't mind tinkering and trawling through forums looking for solutions to get SLI working, but have the potential to have some games running amazing, then go SLI.
