Maybe use my TV as a monitor, any disadvantages?

Hey guys

I've been looking into getting a 24" monitor for ages

But I've noticed a lot more people on here using their TV's as monitors, I currently have a 40" Samsung LE40M87BDX, which is 1080p native so will be running pretty close to a 24" resolution

So was thinking save some money and use this

Are there any cons to it? Loss in quality? Are the respnse times slower on TV's compared to monitors, I've never noticed a problem when connected to my PS3 or 360 but I'll be sat a lot closer when using my TV so thought maybe you'd notice it more

The TV is only about 3ft away from my PC in my bedroom anyway so the amount of rearranging would be minimal

Cheers guys

Well just tried it, it looked fantastic at 1920x1080, so clear, games looked stunning

Trouble was...

The desktop spanned off the edges of the screen. Had to use nvidias HDTV resizer, but that ruined the quality by quite a bit :(
