Hi guys, just wondering if anybody knows if you need to use a silver coil and/or biocides with mayhems ultra pure h20 fluid or is it like the rest of their range and requires none. I had a look on the www. But couldn't find any answers.

Cheers,

Sam

the ultra pure h20 is just di (maybe distilled?) water that has been filtered more. mayhems use it when producing their coolants.

it has no additives.

aside: kill coils are useless on their own.

Basically the whole idea was that I didnt want algae to grow in my loop, Overclockers assured me today that I dont need a kill coil or biocide with h20 pure and that algae will not grow.

:)

aside: kill coils are useless on their own.

To put this in context I have just finished a complete strip down after running with Asda's DI and one kill coil and nothing else whatsoever for 2.5 years. All blocks were absolutely spotless, including the EK nickel CPU block, which I was quite pleased about given the plating problems the blocks have had. There was no fungal build up whatsoever anywhere in the loop. So my personal opinion is that kill coils are not useless on their own and I find claims they are quite scare mongery at best.

Well I decided to go for mayhems h20 ultra pure with no kill coil and no
Biocides as Overclockers told me not to bother today :-) if it proves otherwise I will let you guys know

the premixed coolants already have biocides in right ? or do you need to buy sepparate and add to the resevoir after you assemble your loop ?

Premixed has biocides, anti corrosives, lubricant (for pump) and a couple of other things :).

As for silver kill coil not being effective. It is not effective for very long time in a system. If you really what the silver to be effective buy 2 silver coil and turn them into a collide.
. How ever given time, it does become effective but it takes time and a few weeks at best. Dont forget though before i forget adding silver ions / silver coils to DI water = massive conductivity.
