Mazda MX-5 what should i look for?

I have been looking at cars for the last few months and kept coming back to the MX5, due to the supposed fun factor and reliability.

Basically i am looking for the pros and cons from someone who owns or has owned one and what to look out for.

e.g. Should i buy a K reg for £1000 or spend £3000 on a spotless P reg?

There is so many about its hard to think and althoer burning question is, can they be used as a daily driver i.e. 10-15k miles a year or am i asking for trouble and large bills?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So is the main issue with the eunos imports the lack or history and underseal?
Can the underseal be put on after purchase (if it is a fresh import) and how much can it cost?
What about stuff like cam belts etc?

How much a cambelt to do on these then? and are the hardtops worth the outlay?

Any good examples anyone could bring up for me as i have been looking this afternoon and ringing aroudn a few garages and they are all starting to look the same.

So the crankshaft pulley and rust are big killers.

Where do all these imports come from? (I know Japan) do they just ship em over to get top dollar?

Is history that important then or is that only an issue on newly imported cars?

So what insurance companies are best for JDMs then?
Can anyone highlight any "tidy looking" examples for me as i seem to be going around in circles, and what should i look out for on a test drive?
