There is an MX6 for sale at my local garage and I'm tempted to have a look at it tonight after work, but I was wondering if anyone here has ever driven one or have any kind of knowledge of what they are like and what I should be looking for when I see it. After looking on autotrader it seems most of them have 2.5 v6 engines, how different is this going to be compared to a 2L turbo fuel wise and speed wise?

Dave

They were all 2.5l V6's there's no such thing as an MX6 2.0l Turbo

Or are you just wanting a general comparrison???..

Anyhew..

I currently drive a 2l turbo and was wondering what difference in performance there was. Anyway, after looking round the net it turns out that the mx6 is a bit sluggish despite the engine an dI need something with about the same kind of power as my current car.

Just remember the MX6 is a Ford Probe in a different Suit!... This on its own puts me off straight away!!.. I've driven a Probe (granted it was the 2.0l version) and hated evry minute of the 45 min drive!!!...

Dunno if the Maz's any better!..

IMO its still fugly. but beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that. ;)

IIRC the 2.5 V6 is about 170bhp, so most 2.0T's i can think of would be more powerful, even before you started tweaking. :)

ay, ain't exactly the nicest car, but its a lot easyer on the eye than the probe (and its not called "probe")

my mum had one for about 3 years, the depreciation was shocking! was an alright car and seemed pretty fast although i was only about 15 at the time. she had problems with the alarm imobiliser system though, and the fuel consumption was very high despite her sedate driving style.

available for very cheap in the 2nd hand market now..

Mr Monkey is correct, I drive a 620ti. After reading the thread on the probe I think I may just spend my money on sprucing the old warhorse up and get it running properly, I couldn't drop down that much power which is why I was hoping it might be the same. Oh well, I'll keep looking for that perfect 200sx then. :)

nah they ain't great cars at all. Honda Prelude is a similar style and you get a much quicker / more reliable / nicer looking car for your money.

the 2.2VTi is quicker than the 2.0l Turbo 200SX?....

I'm not convinced... although I can't find any spec sheets.

Was referring to MX6 - the 200sx would be faster.

Ahh! :)

The Prelude looks more aggressive than the MX-6, but I think I prefer the lines of the Mazda... It'd be a toughie to choose, because I'd rather (for looks) and MX-6, but I've always liked preludes (the newer and older shape).
