MB controlled Fans or Case controlled fans

Afternoon All,

I have been helping my son with his first build and wanted to get peoples view on what is the best way for fan control. Is is best to run the fans from the MB or from the fan control on the case?

We have the following components:
Corsair Graphite 780T Case
Corsair Hydro H110i with Corsair Link
Asus Z170 Deluxe

Fan controller on the case would be my preferred option out of those 2. Are they PWM fans or normal fans? PWM fans adjust themselves based on the detected temperature through the PWM controller on the motherboard.
