A friend of mine presently has a problem with his PC. A little while ago his PSU died (a Corsair) and this was replaced under warranty. Since installing the new PSU the machine does not always post on start up.. if it gets to the BIOS screen it will continue booting but more often than not it will not get to the bios stage and remains on a black screen.

Any ideas what this could be? I remember having a similar problem years ago and eventually the MB just died. Does this sound like a MB problem or something else and if it is a MB problem would flashing the BIOS help or make it worse ?

Thanks in advance for any info.

try removing mb battery,leave it out 30mins to overnight to fully clear the cmos,then try

save all your bios settings first though as it will wipe them clean and set to defaults

Thanks for th suggestion mate, he tried it but didn't work.

He has a Gigabyte MB with dual biod and basically it appears that it works on 2nd boot ie when the 2nd bios kicks in and is used instead of the main one.

double boot is normal sometimes,it checks bios settings/reboots and applies them=then boots into windows

using latest mb bios?
