MB Screen and MBP Screen

Are the 2 screen different on the new MB and MBP if so in what ways?

Better quality screen in the macbook pro, contrast is much better and also the viewing angles.

I have a macbook and think the screen is fine, but you know what the apple mob are like!

Well the MBP is an excellent screen.

I would check out a MB screen before you buy and look at some reviews.

Cost and profit, and a reason for lots to spend more on a pro just like firewire

The Pro has to have advantages over the standard or people would not pay the extra. Apple feel the other one is adequate for most peoples needs who will be using the MB. That would probably encompass light users and students.

But for the price different between the top end MB and the LOW End MBP and with all the different the low end MBP have from the top end MB it makes sense to get the MBP dont we think for the value of money for the extras

The MB is smaller. So you may really not want a MBP sized laptop, and not need a higher quality screen but still want OSX. Go for the MB that is the reason its there.

Yes it does seem a bit of a rip off, but everyone is aware of it and its your choice to get that or something like a dell XPS for the money.

My MB screen is a bit wishy washy, with quite low saturation. I can live with it though, when you take all the plus points of the machine into consideration. Still a bit cheeky when they go on about the 'pop' on it and stuff in the online vids...

The viewing angles on my (late '06) MacBook are terrible. It's by far the worst aspect of the system in my opinion.

MBP viewing angles are better than any old the old non LED Macbooks.

I don't know about the new Macbooks.

I have a new MB and the screen isn't great tbh, the MBP is a lot better. However, calibrating the screen, particularly altering the gamut makes it a *lot* better contrast-wise. Doesn't help with the viewing angles though obviously. It is a shame Apple skimped on this aspect, quite disappointing.

If you are doing colour-sensitive work and you can live with the extra cost and size, get the pro, if not the MB is an excellent machine, particularly as a second-machine which is what I use it for.

I plan to get a MB soon and heard the screens are poor, so had a look at them in the Apple store - it seemed fine and much better than I expected after reading all the criticisms. Maybe I'm just not used to using much better screens. So I'd advise going to see them in the flesh and decide for yourself

I'll be doing graphics stuff on mine, but have an external monitor already so hopefully that will be fine for the serious stuff. I would definitely get a MBP if I could afford one, but I think I need the portability too so 13" is perfect. Hmmm.

My experience also. Apart from the viewing angles, where the unibody MBP is clearly better I didn't think there was a noticeable difference between the new MB and MBP. I'm sure graphics professionals can tell you otherwise, but they would surely be going for the MBP anyway. I was really concerned about the reflections after reading reviews, but here too the reality proved to be less of an annoyance than I expected.

As iraiguana said earlier the screen will not be the clincher for the deal. You'll either want the portability of the MB or the extra ports/graphics horsepower of the MBP.

If you go for the MB then consider the 2.4GHz one, with the illuminated keyboard. It's surprisingly good, and gives you the same CPU speed as the entry level MBP.

i compared the MB and MBP side to side, and saw a definite difference (but i'm very picky on such things), so went with the pro in the end.

basically MB screen is much much worse that the pro or the air... but its still usable...just
