Im trying to find out about Mbit/s , my newsgroup says that i will have a download speed of 10 Mbit/s but how fast would that be ?

Sorry im trying to find out how fast that is in megabytes as currently im on 20mb broadband and max download speed is 2.3 mb/s.
So when broadband is advertised is it advertised in megabytes or megabits ?
