Edit: Finally managed to get through. Apparently irrespective of when you pay, any in-month payment goes towards statement balance, and your statement balance is proportional across 0% and interest bearing things. I don't know if this is typical but it is certainly unfortunate as it means I can't use the card for purchases. That means the MBNA card is going to sit in the drawer till the 0% is over.

Hi guys,

I have a balance transfer card with MBNA @ 0% (and it had a cash back offer to do the BT). I have been lured in by a few of their offers - notably 10% off of JustEat. So I made a purchase. The first time I totally forgot if I'm honest and, whilst surprised a small interest on the purchase had been applied, cleared it and moved on.

On the second time I made sure to pay off the amount I'd purchased immediately to avoid the interest again. (It's only 62p but I am properly tight).

I can see on my last statement that despite paying the purchase off immediately, they are charging me interest for the purchase.

I thought any payments must be applied to the highest interest item first?
