I'm a bit out of touch with the hardware in the MBPs at the moment. Do they have Haswell CPUs? If so (or not) is it worth waiting for an update to the CPUs?

TIA

I'd imagine it will be a while before we see any proper refresh (other than possibly a minor spec bump).

They're waiting on mobile broadwell chips so when the next iteration is released is anyone's guess.

They currently use Haswell chips.

As said above.

The 15" rMBP is a beast. Especially the high capacity SSDs (512GB-1TB) with 4x PCI-e lanes. I've seen 900+MB/s read/write.

Plus with Iris Pro, even when on 'integrated' graphics for power saving you're not as compromised on GPU performance on the retina display.

Just to add.

The rMBP uses Haswell. The standard MBP still uses Ivybridge (or maybe even sandybridge). That will definitely not get getting an update.
