Hello all,

So i've had my Macbook for 4 years now; I love it, it still feels as fast as the day I bought it. But I think it's time to upgrade now... I've just started a 4 year course at uni so i'm looking at the 15" base model. I want a GPU so I can run FSX and BF3 (on low settings :p)

So few questions:

If I buy in store will I still get the 3 year warranty I would get on the HE online store?

Is it worth waiting a few weeks to see if this rumoured speed bump comes about?

Can I chuck my time machine backup (Snow Leopard) straight onto Lion?

Where is the safest option to sell my Macbook? And how much? (casing was replaced this summer, magsafe reasonable new, not much wear)

Also, i'm so damn tempted by the iPad 2... would actually be useful for Uni? (Not taking notes on though)

Cheers :)

1. The 3 year base warranty is only on HE purchases AFAIK. I'd advise getting it through HE store so you get the 15% discount + the 3 year base warranty + iTunes card incentive.

2. It's approaching the end of it's cycle, but exact date of release the next model is not known. If you need it now, buy it. But if your current MB can last a little longer, hold out for the upgrade.

3. You can use your SL backup or just use the Migration Assistant to transfer your stuff over.

4. Cannot help with this Q, sorry.

5. I've seen some people use iPad's in lectures, but I think you'd be better off using a MBP to take notes/read lecture slides rather than on an iPad IMHO.

Hope that helps.
