MBP 2012 RAM in a 5k iMac

Hi guys,

Just need someone to do a quick check for me. I removed a 16GB Crucial RAM kit from my mid-2012 MacBook Pro (non-Retina) and was just wondering if I could put this same kit into the new 5k iMac?

I'm living off my iPhone at the moment so I can't get a really good side-by-side comparison going on between the two 'suggested' kits Crucial are recommending (for 2.3GHz i7 2012 MBP and 5k i7 iMac).

From what I can gather they appear to be the same specification, same price but the part numbers are different - which is creating the question.

I'm fairly sure it'll be fine but if someone could just confirm / clarify that would be great.

If they're the same spec I'm sure it is fine.

On the subject of the 5k iMac, is it possible to buy one with the 256gb flash memory option and then add a 2nd hdd?

Is the RAM upgradable on the new imacs or is it soldered to the board?

Edit: Just checked. It has a panel on the back for regular DDR. That's a hell of a lot handier than how they used to do it. I always thought I was going to break the plastic tabs you had to pull.
