MBP Charger Split

So my cable has split on my retina mbp. I think its 2 years old.

Would apple replace this or shall I just buy a new one?

Haven't even done anything to it, it went yellow and then started fraying and eventually split.

chat to apple. they usually replace it. ive been through i think 3 in my time in having mac laptops. easily the let down, always happens

I always wonder how people do this to their adapters....

I've had plenty of magsafe adapters over the years, my family too, not one of them has frayed.

Apple will probably help you out but I personally think it's down to the way you're twisting the cable.

If it's older you could do what I did and put a length of heat shrink tubing over it. It stops it being flexible, but at least it's not potentially dangerous. I've found that the quality of the tubing on the chargers is rubbish and they're very delicate.

A cable is going to get twisted, especially on a laptop

Never had a problem with my Dell chargers. Of which are like 7 years old not 2

Apple have replaced mine twice in 3 years, under student warrenty mind. Go in and ask, they will likely replace for free.
