I am off to NY in August and I am thinking about getting a 2.5G 15" MBP.

I will either beable to get a HE discount or an employee discount so the saving should be pretty good.

I am moving there next year so the question really is would I have any issues with bringing it back here?

The PSU ect? would it be possible to buy a UK one and use that?

All you will need is a UK 3 pin adapter for the charger, one of these:

Only difference is the US keypad has a different enter key for some reason.

The warranty is also worldwide.

I agree. Bought mine in Florida over 2 years ago and had no problems getting it fixed under warranty over here.

PSU is dual voltage so just get the correct plug adaptor or use any old figure-8 lead.

I'm not botherd about the keyboard, I am moving over there next year so it something I'll have to get used t anyway.

And im not expecting it to be fantastic in games, just at least to be the same performance as a windows box when running bootcamp.

I'm heading over to the states next week and I'm sorely tempted to pick up a used Macbook Pro via craigslist (local meetup of course). For example, in my local area there's a 15" with a 2.5Ghz processor for $1300! Are they worth the investment? (I have two newish Windows laptops but having a Mac seems like fun!)

The one I was thinking about has most of the year's warranty remaining and some nice upgrades (4GB, glossy screen) - I gather the warranty is international? New they are about $2500 with only 2GB, so the savings seem well worth it. This is really a spur of the moment thing as I'd no intention of buying one before now!
