MBP - Hard restart required after sleep

Hi,

I've had a 15" mid 2014 MBP (Sierra) for about a month now and intermittently it refuses to wake from sleep, requiring a hard restart via the power button to get it to spring to life.

My Google-Fu isn't returning much that I haven't already tried (SMC & PRAM reset) so I'm at a bit of a loss.

It seems to happen regardless of whether or not it's on the power adapter or my external display is connected and has always been used within the last 24 hours.

Thanks in advance,

BennyC

Are you running the very latest Sierra by any chance? I just noticed this happened to me yesterday on my 2012 Mac mini. Same thing, had to power it off. I wonder if Apple accidentally introduced a bug? At least I'm hoping that's the case, and not that my mini has a hardware fault.

Look in dmesg and see if there's any events at the time it occurs.

Any USB devices connected at all?

Not quite sure what I'm looking for?

No USB devices connected normally but doesn't seem to affect it either way...

Upto date with Sierra too.
