MBP Heat issues/problems

Morning All,

I use my MBP most days in the office to do work on. The office is of a relatively warm temperature (i'm always too hot rather than too cold). My CPU temperature is about 65-70C with Pages09, Preview, iTunes (not listening to any music), and Safari open. The case feels a little warm in the top left and above the F2/F3 keys.

Is this normal?

The temperature gets super hot if I start to play WoW reaching temps of 90C (which i know can't be good)... Any suggestions on how I can cool my MBP down?

P.S - I never have the MBP on my lap or a soft surface... it's always on a desk or hard surface etc...

My 2010 MBP gets pretty toasty at the top left, even when just browsing, so nothing to worry about.

You could buy yourself a laptop stand. This will raise the bottom of the MBP higher off the desk, so more airflow. Some also have built-in cooling.

90c is a bit hot, but everyone has that. I've hit 100c before. Also there are a few apps which can turn your fan speed up by default, like SMCFanControl and iStat Menus. I used the former and maxed at around 70-80c, never got above that. Currently using the latter and have 2 browsers and Oxygen open and am running at 48c but have hit 90c before the fan then speeds up.

why dont you just turn the fans up a bit? My 2010 i5 runs warm at the default 2k revs if I am doing anything slightly demanding. I run mine at 3k for work and 4.2k for gaming in windows. I find it a great mix between cool running and and noise ratio
