I'm getting a problem with my WiFi with my 2011 MBP. It started when waking the laptop from sleep - the WiFi would be off. When I clicked "turn WiFi on", nothing would happen. Today, that wasn't even an option - it just said "No WiFi hardware installed".

It's still within Applecare, so I've spoken to somebody who agreed that the problem was probably hardware related, and they're picking it up tomorrow for repair. However, ideally I don't want to be without it for a week, so was wondering whether anyone knew about the wireless card.

Is it part of the motherboard? If so, obviously I'll need to send it off for repairs. If not, however, if it's a separate card, I assume the problem is simply that it's come loose. In that case, how easy is it to open the MBP up and fit it back in? Is it near the top, or is it underneath the motherboard etc?

Has anyone else done this?

It's clearly some sort of intermittent problem. I've just woken the laptop from sleep and WiFi is now working fine, despite having not worked for the last three hours.
