ok been using my MB this morning no problems until now, just went to turn it on and theres a grey bar at the bottom that goes for about 1cm along then the Mb just powers down. Try to turn it back on then same thing again. any ideas as i have tried a smc reset with no luck

generally an idicator that its out of battery and if its plugged it it may not be getting power...

battery was about 80% when i turn it of, plugged it in when i started having problems, could a SSD problem cause this as well ?? reason i ask is that i managed to put my SL disk it to repair disk permissions and all that and its coming up with repair disk but it can't

Do you have a Time Machine saved or another form of back up? I might be worth formatting the disc (not 'secure erase' for god's sake), then repairing disk permissions.

nope no good, had to put in a 400Gb WD Blue that i had around as i couldn't do anything with the SSD not sure why, lost a small amount of data but most of it was on my TC
