I'm looking for some advice with regard to laptop specs for gaming please?

Currently my main gaming rig is a desktop, and now I've been travelling with work, I've been using my work (18th month old, unibody) Macbook Pro as a stand in to play a few titles native OS and in bootcamp Windows.

Only problem is, after an extended session, the MBP gets really, really hot - painful to touch in some parts of the metal body, and to be honest the performance isnt as great as I'd like for games.

Desktop specs:

AMD phenom II, quad core 955, 3.4ghz
4 gb ram
ATI 5870
24" samsung, running 1920x1080

MBP specs:

Intel core 2 duo at 2.4 ghz
4gb ram
9400M + 9600M GT
15" at 1440 x 900

Games most often played: BFBC 2 + 'Nam, Black Ops / MW2, EQ2, Team Fortress 2, Eve, Dragon Age, and will be playing Rift from release in March.

So I'm after some direction - what would be a good spec laptop (with great cooling) that could achieve near to performance of my desktop, with a similar quality screen of the MBP? Obviously some compromise is needed - and I'm not fussed between 15/17", can go either way.

Weight and battery life are not an issue, as it's to be used near power points and transported via car.

Budget around £1k.

Cheers!

before you ditch the mbp, I have to ask, do you increase the fan speed manually before you game?

I have an i5 MBP and I set the fans to 4600rpm before I start gaming and I can even game with it on my lap! Also I have my 330m overclocked to 600/1350/900.
I play BFBC2/Nam, COD BO, TF2, SC2, DOW2 and RUSE on it with no problem.

Before suggesting a new laptop I also have to ask is the laptop primarily for gaming? You can pick up laptops with 5870m or gtx460m for about a grand but these laptops usually skimp on other areas to achieve the gfx card.

OCUK sell an MSI 660r for about 1k which has amazing specs but the screen quality is average at best and the keyboard has plenty of flex.

Cheers for the reply.

For clarity:

I'll be keeping the MBP, and rebuilding to entirely native OS for work, photos, apple product managing. Fiddling around in bootcamp/manual fans is a bit of an annoyance.

New, additional laptop is entirely for gaming. As it will be for at least 2 x 5 hour sessions a week, screen quality is of some importance. I can be flexible on budget up to 1.4k if that makes a difference on the screen.
