Don't forget there's 1.5Gbit/sec and 3Gbit/sec connections depending on the model of MB/MBP.

True - but I have to have some retail therapy after the Mac Pro prices..

Besides I've managed to get a sample of rare Bere Barley for a popper olde-world brew .. it hasn't changed in 5000 years (same barley that has been found in Egyptian pyramids).. so was feeling a bit happy..

I justify it because the MBP gets used every day for work and domestic duties - and it has a 5400 rpm drive atm. Pity it's a 1.5Gbit SATA model but still I'll see a performance increase

I shall be providing benchies (although my MBP is a 1.5Gb/sec). Mwahaha (ok I'm loosing it!) ... got the rest of work :/

Just an update after a couple of weeks of 10 hours or so usage and the new firmware to replace the buggy 1199. Obviously this shows some degradation through write levelling and from the slower (but non-corrupting) firmware.
