just bought a 17" MBP 2.8GHz and the dvd drive keeps failing.

its been back to the store once for repair, no taking it back for a total replacement.

anyone else had any problems?

I remember my friend had problems with the drive breaking or discs getting stuck (not his fault) half a dozen times at least. With some there are known issues I believe.

I've just noticed the top right of my lid is bent, and I didn't do it. No scuffs or anything just bent :(

great, i bought a mac because i was fed up with ****soft blue screens dieing laptops and jumped into the bloody fire!

Lol well you've found out the hard way that all laptops are made in China or Korea and generally use the same parts so Apple are no better when it comes to the internal as they simply can't be!

The fact Windows can run on millions of different combinations of hardware wheras mac is is designed on a closed platform but still crashes simply goes to show what an achievement windows actually is!

Mine broke, they fixed it no problem but it's a pain in the arse trekking to the store, queuing for hours, losing the laptop for a few days, then trekking back.

A similar thing happened with my old man's Alienware, the dvd drive started to play up 3 days into having the machine.Just bad luck getting a dodgy one I'd say. He simply phoned them up and got the whole system replaced. I'd suggest you do the same, don't settle for a repair job.

Most of your posts have an anti-Apple slant on them so why do you bother posting in the Apple sub section?
