I'm really interested in getting a MBP I'm looking at the Mid Range 15" and then adding a few things and it comes to £2k and I was looking on the US Apple Website and put the exact same stuff on it and comes to £1.5k (after currency covert) So I was wondering whether it would be better to buy from the US website or not?

Also what are peoples views on the MBP and if you have one what are they like? Does it suit what you need it for etc

I use iMac's at college and I think they're great but I'm looking at the MBP for the portability etc

Thanks

Edit: Just looked at delivery from the US store and you cant buy from there :/

Hey ho! looking a 13" MBP this year sometime, will be buying straight from apple store.
Also Id hang on as there due a refresh at any moment.

No sorry all that is coming from Apple is that stock of the MB and MBP are becoming thin and if you look on the likes of Amazon they are stating 1-2months delivery.
Keep an eye on MacRumours website.

Nothing worse than buying one then the new model coming out a few weeks after!!!

I will have to keep my eye out and have a look around

Sorry to double post

I was looking on the US Store and it says that if someone lives in the US they can purchase a MBP as a gift for someone who doesn't and I have family that live in Canada but I'm not sure they do the same deal thing on the Canadian Store :/

Edit: I think I will just have to wait for the new models of MBP and spend the £2k as thinking about it I don't think buying from Canada will be suitable when it comes to charging the MBP as they have different sockets (If I am correct)

They keyboard is the US one with a tiny enter key (but it does have a hash). Apple store will change this over to a UK one if you want but don't know if it is free/how much it would be.

I will have a look at it, I checked the delivery cost from Canada to UK and it was roughly £100 would it be worth buying from the UK online store or the Canadian store

You have to remember that the US price does not include tax. You said that you were thinking of buying from canada and HST in Ontario is 13% so you have to add that to the price. Also you will have to pay import duty and shipping costs. Also if you want a UK charger you will have to pay for that as well. In the end you may only save a very small amount for a lot more hassle.

Your best option to save some money is find someone who is a university student and get HE discount.

Damn I forgot about tax, reading that it does seem like a lot of time and effort for minimal savings, I think its best to wait and get it from the UK store, I'm at college but can't access the discounts unless I'm at college which is a pain, unfortunately I don't know anyone in HE :(
