So after having my MBPr for a while, it is both laggy and buggy. I have used OS X before for iPhone development, but that was the previous version of OSX.

Scrolling isn't the smoothest, F3 isn't smooth, F4 isn't smooth etc. I get random 1px lines like so:

All in all, not impressed. I have had OS X crash more times in the first week of ownership, than in all of my time with Windows 7 :/

I am pretty sure its 100% software related. I think 10.8 deals with many of the issues I have heard.

Windows 7 runs like a dream on it.

^ yeah. When I restart it is fast again. It just slows down after use.

Even my business partner has said that he isn't impressed with it compared to his old MBP.

Lovely hardware, not so great software. I wish a manufacturer would build laptops as nice as Apple so I could just get a Windows one :)

I know it's a PITA, but I would do a complete reinstall of OS X from scratch. Download Lion from the App Store overnight, create a USB drive from InstallESD.dmg in the package. Reboot into that, format the drive completely using Disk Utility, and install as normal, then reinstall all your applications.

Shouldn't have to do it on a new machine, but it is definitely worth a shot.

I would definitely book it in for a genius, mine isn't remotely like that - no problems apart from a pin hole like cosmetic mark on the bottom, not sure what to do about that.

I also can't seem to notice the lag on pages that others seem to though, I've seen someone demo this when viewing FB and Engadget but they're scrolling up and down like mad :D

Hope you get it fixed :)

Took this to 'Genius bar' and they ran diagnosis. Nothing wrong with hardware, just buggy software.

Hurry up and fix Apple! :)

I havent had the problems you have izi - what model did you go for?

Ive not had a single crash. As for scrolling, force your 650m on and that goes away or use it at 1440x900, it only does this when you are using the higher res, hopefully that will be fixed in ml next week.

got the 512GB version with 16GB ram.

Its happening to my mates one too, a hard reset fixes it. It is defo software related, lots of other people are experiencing it.

As far as crashes go, I am just talking generically - had many more app crashes than I ever did with W7 - I haven't used OS X for a while, the last time I did it was version 10.6 and I didn't have as many problems.

I've not had anything like that (yet) with mine, 256GB / 16GB. Is your mates a 512GB too?

Yep.

It wasnt happening on my mates either, then yesterday it happened after a month of use.

I never shut down my PC, just sleep. If I restart it the problem doesn't seem to happen as often.

H Izi,

I have the same spec as you - I have not seen the graphical glitches you are seeing but I've had plenty of crashes due to the Apple/Intel HD4000 driver bug that Google Chrome in particular seems to expose (note: apparently this bug is common to all the HD4000 MacBooks, not just the retina :( ).

I wonder if one of the apps you're running regularly is also exposing the same bug?

In short: Hurry up and fix it Apple :p

I do the same, but as I say - I've not seen any issues yet. The only graphical issue I had was when I was trying to sort out the labelling on my mini displayport cables. I was swapping them around a lot (and had gfxStatus switching the current GPU) - when I finished, I opened up to the internal screen and the screen was corrupt. It hadn't crashed, so a safe restart 'cured' it.

What bug is this, I use Chrome - but flick between it and Safari.
